Coronavirus Tracker Shows Epidemic Holding Steady

The CEID Coronavirus Tracker  available in the COVID-19 Portal is an interactive visualization tool that displays up to date data about the number of cases, hospitalizations, and deaths due to COVID-19 in the United States and globally. UGA researchers and numerous external stakeholders use the tracker to understand how the SARS-CoV-2 virus continues to spread. For example, as shown below, through May 26 plotted data comparing the number of cumulative deaths per 100K in California and Georgia demonstrate that in each state, morbidity continues to rise. Although cumulative morbidity is no longer exponential, effective containment has not occurred. Georgia has experienced almost 20 deaths per 100K compared to California’s 10 although each state has tested approximately 4,000 residents per 100,000 people. We encourage you to explore the Coronavirus Tracker to learn more. If you have questions, please contact us.
