CEID Independent Postdoctoral Scholar Opportunity

The Center for the Ecology of Infectious Diseases (CEID) at UGA is accepting applications for a postdoctoral position focused on the data science, artificial intelligence, modeling and infectious disease dynamics, with a start date of January 2, 2024 or soon after.

Established in 2016, The CEID is a hub of interdisciplinary research on the ecology and evolution of infectious diseases of humans and animals. The CEID Postdoctoral Scholar will have the opportunity to collaborate with scientists from the Odum School of Ecology, College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Public Health, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and the Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources. Postdoctoral Scholars are scientists-in-residence working on projects of their own design.

Additional benefits include access to world class faculty and research scientists and an assigned faculty mentor, technical support for computational projects, and the opportunity to participate in Center activities including workshops, seminars, collaborative projects and working groups (current working groups focused on behavior, disease mapping, macroparasites, and disease forecasting).

Candidates with strong quantitative skills and a background in ecology, evolution, or infectious disease biology are especially encouraged to apply. US and international citizens are eligible, and individuals not currently affiliated with UGA are encouraged to apply.

Applications should include a cover letter that describes your research interests and background, a proposal of no more than four  pages describing a two year project integrating data science, artificial intelligence, or modeling and infectious disease dynamics, a curriculum vitae, and the contact information for three references.

Applicants are invited, but not required, to identify potential collaborators or faculty mentors in the application: https://www.ceid.uga.edu/people/

Questions should be sent to CEID Director John Drake at jdrake@uga.edu.
