- Pathogen/disease systems involving wildlife, domestic animals, and humans
- Advancing the science of wildlife disease control
- Unifying empirical, theoretical, and applied branches of ecology and epidemiology, with integration from other disciplines (particularly molecular, veterinary, and public health)
